The area developed rather slowly because of the rough landforms along the Aspetuck River; this made farming difficult and slowed the transportation, there was no railroad built in Easton. The only type of industry that existed in this small town is a button factory. Today, the Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut, the biggest water supplier in the area, owns half the property in town.
