Black Rock Coastline Area

A quaint enclave with many historic buildings and homes, Black Rock is the only coastline waterfront area in Bridgeport, and a true gem of Fairfield County. If you go through Black Rock Historic District, you will be impressed to see so many beautifully built and restored historic residences, charming old homes or recently built waterfront homes and condos.

All the waterfront homes in Black Rock offer sweeping water views. On the eastern shore you will admire the beautiful Seaside Waterfront Park and Beach, and also the Fayerweather Island Lighthouse. On the western shore you can see the gorgeous Ash Creek estuary with its magical sunsets and wildlife fowl, and on the southern shore you will have panoramic views of the L.I.Sound, the Lighthouse and also views of the Jennings Beach in the nearby Fairfield.

Once a major seaport/ shipbuilding center, Black Rock still has an intense nautical vibe inspiring many boaters in Bridgeport and nearby. You can be part of a great boating community and enjoy the racing events at the century-old Black Rock Yacht Club and Sailing School. At the Fayerweather Yacht Club you can enjoy 2 great marinas in nearby Fairfield, just across the Ash Creek, and also Captain's Cove or Cedar Marina in West End Bridgeport, just across the Burr Creek.

If you love long walks along the beach, you will also love the iconic St. Mary's-by-the-Sea, a quaint destination park with beachfront walkways offering spectacular views of the L.I.Sound.

For more privacy, you can choose the quiet Seabright Beach, a great place for relaxing, sunbathing and kayaking. The nearby S.S. Norden Club and Hermann Beach kayak club are also great places offering plenty of waterfront recreation activities and stunning water views. There's also the Ellsworth Waterfront Park with several tennis courts and baseball fields.

A very special place, loved and protected by Black Rock residents, is Ash Creek - a wildlife sanctuary and a valuable ecosystem acting as a storm and wave buffer, helping to stabilize the shoreline and capture upstream pollution before reaching the L.I.Sound.

The estuary provides many opportunities for recreation, including nature walks, kayaking or non-motorized boating, and also many opportunities to be part of school environmental programs.

Lake & Pond Homes

If you are a water lover and you want to live in Bridgeport, you should definitely look at Lake Forest. It is the only lake in town with homes all around it. What a great opportunity to own a lake home and to be part of this lake community!

The Lake Forest Association members and their guests can enjoy swimming in the pristine waters of this beautiful lake, and they can also explore the lake by kayak, canoe, paddleboard or Jon boat. You'll definitely love this lake if you're a boater, and you can also enjoy your own dock.

Lake Forest area residents also enjoy the nearby Elton Rogers Woodland Park, and its many miles of hiking and biking trails through 60 wooded acres. The 127-acre Beardsley Park and Zoo, one of the most beautiful woodland destination parks in the state, is just a 10 minutes drive away from Lake Forest.

If you work or live in New York City and you're lucky to own a lake home on this stunning lake, you will enjoy an easy commute. Just minutes to Merritt Parkway, Lake Forest is a short, 1-hour drive away from Manhattan.

Beaches

If you love the beach, you will find many places in Bridgeport where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views of L.I.Sound, sunbathing and swimming. There are two large sandy beaches and many small, quiet beaches.

Bridgeport's most famous resident, P.T Barnum envisioned and took part in the development of Seaside Park over 150 years ago. In the Black Rock neighborhood you can also find several small secluded beaches, like Seabright Beach and Pody's Swiss Chard Shoal, where you can enjoy more privacy and tranquility, and also stunning views of the Black Rock Harbor and the Fayerweather Island with its beautiful historic Lighthouse.
