With 38 percent protected land, many hundreds of acres zoned as historic places, and a commitment to preserving the rural character and natural beauty, not many developments were planned in recent years in Redding.

Most homes were built in Redding up until 2006, and just a few single-family homes have been built each year since then. However, there are still several newly built homes on the market and a new larger development is planned and moving forward.

Currently in the phase of assessment at the site, the project aims to redevelop the former Gilbert and Bennett factory property and build a new village that will comprise several hundreds of affordable homes, according to the initial plan, as well as retail spaces.
