After the 2020 pandemic, the Greenwich community has entered a phase of what may be seen as a building boom, comprising several brand new constructions, as well as new developments planned to improve the town's assets and infrastructure.
On the site of an old restaurant at 581 - 585 W. Putnam Avenue, Greenwich will have a new four-story building with 44 new homes, with nine residential units available for moderate-income residents. Planned in 2018, the new development project underwent a series of reviews of the initial plan until 2021 in early November when the community was satisfied with a final design fitting the West Putnam corridor.
The Mill area at Glenville, with 59 already newly built luxury apartments, will further be improved with a new structure to be renovated and 16 new residential units, next to The Mansion. A great boost for the local economy, The Mill complex is also a great improvement for the area and fits well with the attractive Glenville neighborhood.
There are also more than 100 new units to be built in central Greenwich, within a facility designed to offer assisted living options and 30 memory care studio units. The building is planned to have underground parking and a lot of green space for seniors. This new development is meant to resolve the lack of housing for older residents.
One of the latest residential proposals envisions a five-story residential building in central Greenwich, close to Greenwich High School. The building is planned with 86 units to be built, 26 of them set aside as affordable.
