Wilton CT was hit yesterday with a storm that put five times more homes out of electricity than did the fury of Hurricane Irene. Amazing! They are saying that the state of CT has almost 800,000 homes out of power. There are more trees down from this storm, and in most cases, it was not the wind, - it was the weight of the snow.
There are parts of Wilton and New Canaan that may be out of power for a week, so they say on the radio. If you are lucky enough to live near town, or on a main through road, you may be the first streets back with power. We are lucky that we have all of our power lines underground on our street, and our street is off of a main street in Wilton. We were out of power very quickly yesterday as the storm started, and are still out today.
I just heard that Ridgefield, just north of us, is out 100% - no one has any power. Cell phones are out, too! Wilton has 77% out, and Litchfield County got hit the hardest ( that means you, Andrea)!
Best of luck to everyone in the tri-state area for the next week!
Because we love Fairfield County!
