Westport is a town in Fairfield County located on the coast of Long Island Sound. Westport is a great town with a lot to offer. Shopping, golf, the beach, a theater are among the many activities available to you as a Westport resident.
Longshore Club Park
Known to locals as “Westport’s Crown Jewel” Longshore has an interesting history. Like most of Fairfield County, the land that is now Longshore Club Park was farmland, it was later turned from farmland into an estate and then a popular Country Club.
During the 1940’s Longshore Country Club was a very popular Club for local residents Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald and their famous friends. Celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Babe Ruth and Henry Fonda were all guest at Longshore.
In 1960 the town of Westport bought the club for $1,950,000. Unique to Westport, Longshore was transformed into a public facility for the whole town to enjoy offering golf, tennis, paddle tennis, a swimming pool, a sailing school, and in the winter there is an ice skating rink.
When visiting Westport you can stay at the Inn at Longshore, a first class Inn with 12 guest rooms and you can dine at the award winning restaurant “Splash.” The Inn at Longshore is a very popular destination for weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and all kinds of both private and corporate events.
